1. Qualification Round: Doors open at 8:30. Packets will be handed out to competitors to begin as they complete registration anytime Saturday morning between 9:00 and 10:30 to be completed within 1 hour (between 10:00 and 11:30). Each participant will be given a packet to include instructions and 2 puzzles (all participants in each level of play will be given the same puzzles); 1 of 2 puzzles must be completed and turned in within 1 hour.
Scoring: Those completing their puzzles correctly within 1 hour qualify for the Championship Round.
2. Championship Round (must have successfully completed the Qualification Round): To be held in the hall Saturday following a similar format, with participants starting anytime between 10:00 and 12:30 and completing between 12:00 and 2:30. Each Novice, Intermediate and Advanced participant will be given a packet to include instructions and 3 puzzles (competitors at each level will be given identical puzzles); 2 puzzles must be turned in within 2 hours. Each Expert participant will be given a packet to include instructions and 3 puzzles (all will be given the same puzzles); all 3 puzzles must be turned in within 2 hours.
Scoring: for all who complete the puzzles correctly within the 2 hour limit, ranking will be determined by the time it took to complete the packet. In the event that two or more participants correctly complete the packet in the same amount of time, they will be tied and the award, if any, split. All entries that are not completed correctly will be timed at the 2 hour limit and will then be ranked based on the least incorrect entries. In the event that two or more participants have the same number of incorrect entries, they will be tied and the award, if any, split. Any disagreement with the scoring can be appealed to the appeal judge, so designated. The decision of the judge will be final.
Awards: presented at completion of the tournament; a published list will be provided on the school website ranking the order of finish for all returned packets in the final round.
