Priority in admission is given to children of registered, contributing members of St. John's as well as Catholics from other parishes. We respectfully welcome non-Catholic students to join our school community if openings remain. Space permitting, new students can be accepted throughout the school year. All students, both new and continuing, must submit the registration form with any necessary documentation and include a non-refundable registration fee.

St. John's is currently accepting registration for enrollment for the 2012-2013 school year!

We are currently accepting Application for Admissions for grades 1-8.

For Pre-K and K, please refer to the following schedule:

- Feb. 16 - Registration deadline for current school families
- Feb. 21 - Registration for St. John's parishioners
- March 5 - Registration for Catholics from other parishes
- March 19 - Registration for non-Catholics

ADMISSION POLICY

The primary purpose of St. John’s School is to serve all Catholic parents who want a Catholic education for their children. Catholics who actively practice their faith have first priority. Any non-Catholic or non-practicing Catholic families willing to comply with the school’s policies will be considered for acceptance as space allows.

A birth certificate or baptismal certificate, health record, and up-to-date immunization record is required of every student entering school. Schools in the Archdiocese of Washington follow the Maryland State guidelines for age appropriate admissions. Kindergarten students must be five by Sept. 1. Registration is held in the spring. A non-refundable registration fee will be required at this time.

Non-Discrimination Statement
St. John's School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in the administration of educational policies, personnel policies, admissions policies, athletic and other school administered programs.

Parent Cooperation as a Condition of Enrollment
Parents/guardians and students understand and acknowledge the Roman Catholic religious nature of St. John's School. Parents/guardians and students agree not to publicly repudiate the teachings and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church, and will respect and support the unique identity that St. John's derives from its Catholic faith. As the primary educators of their children, parent/guardians shall cooperate fully with the school and the students shall participate in all required school programming, including instruction in the Catholic faith and attendance at Mass. As the primary educators of the students, parents/guardians agree to act in ways that promote the best interests of the church and school and will comply with the policies of the Archdiocese of Washington and St. John's School.

Statement of Responsibility
Enrollment as a student at St. John 's School assumes the willingness of both parents and students to comply with the policies and regulations of the school as contained in this handbook. Admission is probationary for a period of 90 days. We reserve the right to dismiss any student whose behavior and/or academic work habits do not meet the standards of St. John’s School.

Transfers/Withdrawals Notice
Parents will notify the principal if there is a need to transfer or withdraw a student from school. If a report card is issued, the parent will present the report card to the school the child enters. Cumulative records will be forwarded to the receiving school when they are formally requested in writing by the school, and after parent permission is obtained to release the records. All debts must be satisfied before records can be released.

Choosing a school for your child is, of course, a major decision. We will be happy to assist you in deciding if St. John's is the right school for your family. Please call 301-373-2142 during school hours to have your questions answered or to schedule an appointment for a visit. We look forward to sharing information about our school with you.

View Registration Form (Note: You can fill this out electronically and then save and print it.)

Registration for 2012-2013 – These forms will be the same throughout the Archdiocese of Washington. There is a registration form for each child and it must be filled out in its entirety. Please do not leave any blank spaces on one child's form because you have already provided the information on a sibling's form. A suggestion for families with multiple children: Fill out page 2 and the top half of page 3 and make copies. Please return the form and the school contract to St. John's along with the $50 registration fee per child.
